HolidayCon 2026-2027
Welcome to HolidayCon!
What is HolidayCon? HolidayCon is a new event being run on The Game Place Discord server. It's meant to help bridge the gap between the major holidays when scheduling can get crazy and regular games get post-poned.
Post-poned games = sad players
A bunch of one-shots to fill the void = happy players
It's that simple!
How Does This Work?
The Discord server The Game Place is run by Amanda, a professional GM on StartPlaying Games. Normally, the vast majority of the games on the server are run by her. But for HolidayCon, it's all players! She's running a couple of one-shots, but mostly it's in the hands of players who want to run systems they're familiar with or who want to try running a new system. So, while you'll land in the Discord and see Amanda's username as: Manfred (DM/Keeper/GM), if you're there for HolidayCon, she is probably not actually your GM.
If you join a paid game, make sure you discuss with your GM how they will be paid. Some of the games are posted through StartPlaying Games, which takes care of payment automatically, but some are not. Make sure you know which method your GM uses, and pay promptly! Payments are due 1 hour before the session starts.
To see your game on the Discord calendar in your time zone, click here. To send a direct message inquiring about a game, or space in a game, click here or message Amanda (Discord username: manfred_the_awesome/Manfred#3683).
When you join a game and land in the Discord, you'll land in the lobby general chat. From there, simply scroll through to the HolidayCon category and find your game channel within that category. Then start chatting! Easy as that. Once your game is over, you're free to choose whether to stay in the Discord (as long as you behave) or leave.
